Newborns…..Of The Kitten Variety | Adelaide Newborn Photographer

Another personal post but cant resist to post photos…..some of you may already have seen these photos on my personal facebook profile.

For a good couple of years or more my eldest daughter Tayla, who is 9 next month has been seriously begging for her own cat.  We havent owned a cat since having kids (we used to have tonkinese mainly before kids up until I was pregnant with #2)  Tayla adores cats,  my mum has 3 show cats they are oriental and siamese with a 4th show cat on its way!   Tayla loves to go to the cat shows with my mum and when Mum gets her new  foreign white oriental Tayla was going to show it as a junior exhibitor.   And when she eventually got her own cat she would ask if she could have one she could show.    After searching for breeds that I thought would be suited for us and sussing out what Tayla liked one breed mum suggested was the burmese, Tayla loves this breed as one of mums friends has one and Tayla always tells me how much this burmese loves her and gives her cuddles.    I dropped a huge shock on her the other day and told her we will buy her a kitten for her 9th birthday.     (Or more like her birthdays for the next 5 years LOL).
Yesterday mum visited with a friend of hers who breeds Burmese who happens to live 5 minutes from me.   And 3 of her cats have had kittens,  2 lots being in the past week.   Mum emailed photos that she took and I was on the phone asap to her saying we would be interested.    Mum tells me she would call me back in a couple of minutes which she did to say could Tayla and I pick her up and we could go and have a look at the kittens!   So ofcouse like most things I do,  I grab my camera!

The 3 litters of kittens were so cute,  one were 3 days old,  one were 5 days old and the other litter were 6 weeks old.    We werent sure if we wanted a male or a female, so I thought if we let Tayla decide what she liked (which colour she wanted,  lilac, chocolate or the darker chocolate) we could work out what was available.   Turns out Tayla liked (as did I) the chocolate,   the lighter chocolate colour.   That litter is 5 days old and all girls.  The 3 day old litter were lilac and they had both boys and girls.

I have one very happy girl,  infact all the kids are so happy.

For more information on the burmese kittens, price and availability  contact Jill  www.hakuacattery.net   her kittens are beautiful,  their mothers are stunning.  They are beautiful show cats and I dont think you could find a more perfect burmese breeder :)   I was most impressed with where her cats were kept too in her home and extremely well maintained.

Thanks so much Jill for having Tayla and I over at a moments notice to choose a kitten.    I cannot tell you how happy Tayla is,  I had to print out pictures on an A4 page so she could put it in her school drawer under her desk  as it was hot weather policy today they had to stay inside so she decorated around the paper that I printed the images on to make a fancy frame and proudly showed her new friends at her new school her new pet!

OK now I have explained the story of the following pictures ,   excuse the quality I bounced the flash with a couple of shots but the older kittens didnt like it so I tried to capture the kittens with no flash.   We went there late so I used the normal ceiling lights.   But you can still see how adorable they are.

This litter are 5 days old,  Tayla has chose one from this litter, you can see the mother in the shot,  thats the colour the kittens will be.  Tayla will possiblyhave one of the 2 you see here.   At the moment Tayla says she likes the name Crystal.  Being it will be a show cat for a little while it needs a middle name.   The mother is Elley Rose so Tayla things she will keep the middle name Rose after her mother,  how sweet.  She said she will have a bit more of a think about a name but at the moment she love Crystal Rose.

Here is Tayla with possibly one of the kittens that will be hers and another shot of Elly Rose (the mum) and her kittens, all girls.

Sabrinah’s First Birthday | Adelaide Family Photographer

Sabrinah turned one on Saturday,  technically at 6.45pm!    All week Sabrinah has been very unsettled,  not going down to sleep easily, very clingy and dribbling galore.  And she was a little grumpy the day of her birthday too.  She didnt crack to much of a smile nor did she want to show anyone her walking skills mind you she was cuddled alot during her party but at the end of the day inside she did a little bit,  all this past week she has just about mastered walking most of the time,  she is about 70% walking and attempts to walk first before crawling most time but she can manage to walk between rooms now so I guess you could say she is walking.

Her party was a huge success,  I am really happy with how it turned out.  The jumping castle was awesome and I’m so glad we got it!   It’s from www.jumpfirst.com.au.

Sabrinah’s cupcake outfit is from www.ollierose.com.au although you cant see it much in the photos, I’ll do a proper shoot with her in it soon.  It fit well with the Sweet Shoppe theme and my sweet shoppe I was so happy with,  my backdrop stand came in handy as did some bright curtains that my mum had!

I absolutely adored Sabrinah’s cake,  I went with a cupcake stacker and it was so much easier as far as dishing up,  just handing cupcakes out – so quick and easy!   The cake was made by a mum I know from kindy who also sends her kids to the new school my kids are at.   Only a month ago at a birthday party our kids were at I found out she is a cake decorator and runs her business from home!    So I thought I’d see if she was up for the challenge of making Sabrinah’s cake,  she was and my goodness she did an AWESOME job!   An absolutely impressive cake.  Thanks so much Stephanie.  You can find more about Stephanie at http://slice-of-heaven-cakes.ch1.com.au/

The party bags,  tablecloths, stripe table runner is from www.thepartyparlour.com.au    and the little cupcake photo holders are from a seller on etsy who lives in Israel http://www.etsy.com/shop/shimrita  she was awesome and rushed through to get this done and shipped to me and they arrived the day before Sabrinah’s party!!

Here are a few photos from the party.

The jumping castle is one of the larger size ones,  its has a jumping area then a large horse head and its mouth open and closes which the kids climb up into and the other size is a wobbly floor, what happens is the floor goes soft for a couple of minutes and then it stiffens up so the kids can bounce.  As the floor stiffens the horse head stiffens and its mouth closes and lifts the kids up and closes the enterance to the mouth and they can slide out the other side into the wobbly floor and when the wobbly floor is softer the next lot of kids can climb into the horses mouth.   Scroll down and you will see what I mean :)   Here are 2 of my kids seconds after the jumping castle going up!

The sweet shoppe table had 2 jars of biscuits the kids decorated, here is one of my daughters  Tayla’s (almost 9yrs) designs.   They are just iced milk arrowroot biscuits.  I also made biscuits in cupcake shapes I decorated for each childs party bag.

blog8

Jellybelly butter flavoured popcorn…my fave!  And some of the party bags,  I had pink and green.   The girls had hairbows from etsy.com, a small box of jellybelly jellybeans and a cupcake cookie I made and decorated, the boys had a toy or light up pen instead of bows.

Here is the horse head I was telling you about,  its so hard to photograph in the castle,  so many colours causing the kids to be orangey lol.   The wobbly floor was soft so they horses mouth would open easy, as the floor stiffens the bottom of the horses mouth lifts up.  My almost 3yr old is jumping in front and my nephew Daniel is on the horses mouth with Carlie’s friend Jai.

It was such a lovely day and my first kids party at home that I’ve held outside,  I’ve always decorated inside and held the parties indoors but since our verandah is up and Rhys did some paving xmas eve I thought why not have it outside and get a jumping castle to amuse the kids,  it was a warm day but the kids didnt mind, its not everyday you get to go on a jumping castle!  Definately will have one again though,  best money spent on a party!  We had the jumping castle for 6 hours absolutely work every cent!

I hope you enjoyed looking at her party photos,  I love party planning for kids parties!

Big Family = Loads Of Fun | Adelaide Family Photographer

On the weekend I met up with a previous client from my  November  mini sessions (Briony and Paul) to do an extended family photoshoot at the Magill Uni grounds.   We had to cancel our last attempt as it was a 43 degree day,  even though Sunday was estimated 37 the session was at 9am so it wasnt so muggy.

What can I say about this session other than loads of fun,  They reminded me so much of my own family,  grandkids adoring their grandparents,  lots of cousins and many many laughs to have all round.  I thoroughly enjoyed myself….and like my family there certainly was alot of you all :)

There are many photos to sort though,  so I’ve picked just a few for your sneak peek,  I hope you all enjoy it,  thanks so much for making my job so much fun doing these extended family shoots.   You all were very well behaved  :)

I had a lovely morning with you all,  and all the best Jess,  I cant wait for the newborn session.    Are you still awake Alli?   LOL

Wow,  the month of January is almost gone,  I hope everyone’s kids are enjoying the first couple of days back at school.   Monday brings lots of new changes for my 3 school age kids.  It’s their first day at their brand new school  and for Carlie my newly 5 year old, her very first day of big school.   Today I picked up the last of their uniforms and spent the day naming all the articles.   I’m nervously excited for them,   changing schools isnt easy but I know my older 2 are very excited about the change and making new friends.  So check  back Monday as I’m sure I’ll have my camera with me :)

Happy Australia Day – My plan for the photo of the day was the kids looking out the window of my husbands HJ Monaro (an awesome Aussie car!)  but since my husband was working I had to think of another idea,  this is when my 10yr old son Jordan asked if I could do trick photography and proceeded to tell me his idea for photo of the day…..and here it is (a bit cheesy I know but Jordan loves it even Dylan wanted in on it too)

Today I received a parcel in the post from my lovely crafty friend Leoni (if you remember Carlie’s birthday party post Leoni made the fondant horse)

Leoni has her own blog about her many talents http://justcallmemarthaa.blogspot.com/  and believe me she is amazing,  a very talented artist.

I asked Leoni if she could design Sabrinah’s sign for her part to hang over the sweet shoppe table and here is what Leoni made and painted,  I love it!!

M & J’s Beach Wedding | Adelaide Wedding Photographer

Firstly,  Happy Australia Day to all!   We have celebrated with a quiet day here,  my husband has to work and I have been excitedly trying to proof some wedding photos from Saturday’s wedding at the Adelaide Sailing Club http://www.adelaidesailingclub.com.au/ (go to the function centre tab and then scroll to weddings for more information).

Karen (Karen Pfeiffer Photography) and I first headed to the bride’s parents place for some getting ready photos eagerly awaiting to see her gorgeous cafe  latte type colour dress.   And it didnt disappoint….her dress was STUNNING!

The bridal car also was extra special,  the mercedes is the car of the bride’s grandfather who is in his 90’s and drove the bride and her father to the wedding location.

It was a little windy so the wedding wasnt held on the grass outside the club but it was held up on the balcony with gorgeous views!   We had so much fun with M and J,  such an awesome couple who really made our job even more fun.   It’s hard to think we have to call this work when its too much fun,  meeting such lovely couples and their families and friends and such beautiful locations too!

So here is a sneak peek from their beautiful wedding

While standing up on the top step at the back door watching the kids play figuring out what on earth to do for my photo for the day Dylan (who is 3 end of next month) approached me and I saw the opportunity to do one of the kids favourite shots……the bobble head!   This gets the kids giggling every time!!

Lots of hair bows and clips arrived today from the US which I am putting in the party bags for the girls at Sabrinah’s party,  I wanted nice keepsakes that all the girls could use in the bags.   I purchased the clips in sweets themes like lollipops, cupcakes and icecreams.    And one extra clip I purchased for Carlie is a spongebob clip,  we are big spongebob squarepants fans (yep even me!)   So here is Carlie proudly wearing her new hair clip purchased from Etsy from seller http://www.etsy.com/shop/McClippies

blog

And here are a few more bows/clips from McClippies which will be put in the girls party bags at Sabrinah’s 1st birthday party.

And some more clips I bought from another Etsy seller http://www.etsy.com/shop/littlehailey for the party bags,  the Hello Kitty bows are for my eldest daughter (she’s loves HK) and also her younger cousin who adores Tayla and loves to make sure she has the same things as Tayla so I got them both HK bows.   For some other party guests I chose these cute lollipop bows.
