May 2-8 2010 is Motor Neurones Disease (MND) Awareness Week and to raise awareness and money for MND Research for the month of May Sweet Blue Photography will be donating 50% (which is $50) of the session fee to MND research. I’ve now opened up for May bookings (with only a couple of spots left for April) so if you book your session in May half of your session fee will be donated to raise awareness and money for MND and as a thank you all May bookings will receive 10% off * their total order.
Why is Sweet Blue Photography supporting this, my mother back in 1998 was diagnosed with MND at age 47. MND is a muscle wasting disease, a terminal illness for which there is no known cure. Life expectancy from diagnosis is only around 3 years for most MND sufferers, however for a very small amount of MND sufferers they will have the slower progressing form. So although mum has been hit with such a horrible disease we are so thankful that she atleast has the slow progressing form which has allowed her to be around for the arrival of all her 10 grandchildren. She actually has been at the birth of all my 5 children! Next year my mum turns 60, we will be planning a nice big party for mum (even though she doesnt want one!) as what a great milestone to reach fighting this horrid disease.
With the advice from MNDAustralia it was recommended I start a fundraising page to make donating easier, so what I’ve done is opened up the fundraising page now http://www.gofundraise.com.au/sweetbluephotography please feel free to make a donation of any amount from now until June 8 2010, my goal is $1000. Feel free to copy and paste the link to your blog or facebook page to help me raise awareness for this debilitating disease.
Here’s my wonderful mum with one of my daughters, at our next big family get together (I am the eldest of 4 kids so we are all over Adelaide or in the country) we will have a newly update photo as we try to attempt each year! Its not easy getting now 10 babies/kids to sit and look at the camera!

Thank you in advance for any support you can give by means of donation or booking a session with me! For more information on MND please go to http://www.mndaust.asn.au/
(*10% off applies only to new clients booking for May)

Today my 2nd child, Tayla turns 9. This year Tayla isnt have a big party, for her birthday we have bought her a burmese kitten instead (which she is absolutely fine about, she still cant believe she is getting a kitten after years of pleading!) But the kitten is only 6 weeks old so still another 6 weeks before she actually gets it. She has named her kitten Mollie Rose although in the litter we are unsure which one is hers yet, as Tayla will be showing Mollie Rose in a few cat shows here and there with her Nana we need one of the best ones of the litter so we are just waiting to see which one that will be. You can see the litter of kittens here at around 2 weeks old http://sweetbluephotography.com.au/blog/?p=1773 and then 5 weeks old http://sweetbluephotography.com.au/blog/?p=1855
I took the kids out to the shops so Tayla could spend some of her birthday money and to get her to choose her cake from The Cheesecake Shop, I am surprised I didnt end up with more than one cake, they all (apart from Sabrinah ofcourse) had their own favourite cake they wanted and tried their best to talk Tayla into their choice. She is pretty fussy when it comes to cakes and isnt really into chocolate cakes (she definately doesnt get that trait from me!!) she chose strawberry cream torte which is vanilla sponge cake. She also chose to spend some of her money on art/craft things and so her afternoon was spent decorating her craft cats. The top she is wearing is also is what she picked out. Yep she really adores cats! We knew buying her a kitten for her birthday would really make her day, its great to see how excited she is, I have lost count how many times she has said thank you for letting me have a kitten, or given me drawings and notes saying thank you on them, very sweet indeed.

Thismorning was an early start to meet my friend Allison’s (from www.lilypodknits.blogspot.com) niece Jess and her 12 day old baby girl Cherise. I photographed Jess when she was 36 weeks pregnant at the beach which you can see here http://sweetbluephotography.com.au/blog/?p=1692
Well, for a little 12 day old cutie she was pretty alert and awake for the majority of the session until closer to the end when she gave us stints of sleep enough to attempt a couple of sleeping shots. Thank you to Cherise’s great grandparents for the use of their home for the shoot
Here are a few shots from thismorning

This is one of my sessions I had today with a family of 6 and was a take 2 after our last weekend session was ended early due to the extremely windy conditions. It certainly wasnt as bad today but the weather was looking a bit iffy with rain clouds gathering above. We timed it right as just as we were nearing the end of our park session it began to rain and by the time we got back to the clients home it was pretty much set in. So we finished up with a few indoor shots with 3 month old baby L.
Here is a little sneak peek for you

Here was the current competition on offer………check below for the winner……

To determine the winner it was a straight forward put all the clients (who were elegible) names into a container and I let my recent birthday boy pick one name and the name he chose was…..

stay tuned for a new competition.

Sabrinah turned 1 earlier this month and one thing I never got around to doing was her cake smash. So this weekend I decided I’d do one outside with her while the weather was nice. And atleast the mess would be easier to clean! Although she didnt make too much of a mess. The cake is from Michele’s Patisserie and is the Strawberry Soiree from their $10 cake collection.

Also yesterday we got to visit the Burmese kittens, they are 5 weeks old today and are a little more active now. We are still unsure which in the litter will be Tayla’s so she spends time with each one giving lots of cuddles. The one with the red collar decided that she was going to curl up in hands while I was cuddling her up against my chest under my chin and sleep for a while. I can see when this kitten arrives if she falls asleep on my lap….I wont be budging!!

This little cutie with the purple collar is wondering what on earth the big black thing is pointing at her. They are a little spooked with the flash so I have to work with lower light that what I am used to hence the grain to the images.

I was really looking forward to my session thismorning, with a previous maternity and newborn client I was now meeting up with the family to photograph Lucus for his 1st birthday. Lucas was all smiles when we started, he was happy to show off his gorgeous cheeky grin. Since he woke up a little earlier for his parents by the time it was his cake smash time he was a little tired, but he still managed to get messy! I hope you enjoy your sneak peek.

Today my 4th child turns 3!
He’s so much his dad, we call him mini Rhys often. Although Dylan always reponds when told he looks like Daddy ‘I not Dad I Dylan’! He loves his bin trucks and ‘ment mixers’ as he calls them (he means cement mixers) although he is adiment they carry mud and not cement and there is no changing his mind!
Today Mum and I took him to the Wacky Warehouse play cafe, I promised him we would go for his birthday and he didnt forget! Then on the way home we stopped at The Cheesecake Shop and I let him pick his cake. He wanted the one with the strawberries, which was a double choc strawberry torte….I was thinking that was a pretty good choice! He also spotted a train candle set which he wanted on his cake too. Then we were going to have a small BBQ dinner after school and asked my parents and my brother and his girlfriend to stay for our little BBQ dinner. Oh and that cake…….absolutely yummy!! I highly recommend it if you ever are left pondering what cake to buy while staring at the glass. Its not easy, which is why I left it up to a 3 year old to decide!
Happy 3rd Birthday Dylan!
This is my favourite photo, he was 7 hours old when this was taken, he was in the humidity crib overnight as he had a few minor issues breathing, nothing major really but it was more as a precaution to keep a closer eye on him. He was fine. But on their way out after visiting my dad snapped this shot on his point and shoot camera and its still to this day one of my faves. It shows his chubbiness! Dylan’s pregnancy was very stressful, at my 20 week scan we were told he had too much fluid around his heart and were referred to a heart specialist at the WCH. It was recommended I have an amnio as this could mean abnormalities. It was such a terrible wait, very stressful and emotional. We got the all clear that he was going to be a healthy boy. We had many scans though after that to monitor the fluid as we werent sure how this would affect him outside the womb. But at a scan we had at 34 weeks the fluid was in the normal range and as you can see, he’s a big healthy boy, weighing 9lb 12.5oz!

I cant believe how quick birthdays seem to come round. The start of the year is always busy for us, next birthday is Tayla’s and she’ll be 9 next weekend.

Dylan has a big tonka collection, and for his birthday we got him the cement mixer. It gets a work out in the sand pit although I dont like when he sneaks it back inside without clearing out all the sand first!

Thanks to the awesome L family for a fantastic session thismorning. The lovely Magill Uni grounds was the location, its so quiet and comfortable for families to have their photos and as you can see its never short of wonderful backdrops!
Amanda, it was hard to narrow down to 3-4 shots for your sneak peek, I took so many thismorning! I hope you enjoy your blog showcase – its more of a showcase than a sneak peek! . I’ll be intouch end of the week with your gallery details

Sunday I met an awesome family, they were given a gift certificate from a family member for a photoshoot with me and they wanted a 2 location session, first part was held at the botanic gardens in the morning and then later that evening we went to the beach at the Adelaide Sailing Club for a few more shots. Brothers R & R are adorable, 18 months old and 5 months old and they did a pretty good job infront of the camera. Their 18 month old son is absolutely precious, he would grab my hand as we all walked around the botanic gardens looking for spots to stop to take photos. One super cute little boy with one super cute giggle! I had so much fun photographing this family, I am so glad we shot at 2 locations!
I hope you all enjoy this sneak peek, it wasnt easy to narrow down the shots.
